This project is a stand-alone, single level inner city townhouse.  The dwelling comprises 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a study or additional living/bedroom and an open plan kitchen, living and dining area.  The individual rooms are located around a central courtyard, accessed via large sliding glass doors that expand and integrate the spaces, so that they are perceived as much larger than the compact 160sqm design.  The building is grounded by a large masonry wall, built to the boundary, running along its eastern length.  The wall adjoins a side laneway and is constructed from smooth concrete blocks, randomly interspersed with a sawn face finish block to expose the aggregate.  The large feature blockwork wall was conceived as a means of embracing, utilising and giving back to the laneway, rather than turning the buildings back on it and treating it as a neglected necessity.
