This project continues the theme of using three colours of bricks throughout the Darmalan College site with bowral blues down low, reds high and internal in rustic cream. The theme of the building has been expressed in the exterior with manifold and cambelt imagery from a motor depicted in patterns in the external brickwork. Angled brickwalls, bullnosed bricks and decorative brickwork have been utilised to create a striking entry, where the cross made from bricks reclaimed from the original building that was demolished and contrast between the bowral blue and red have been used to emphasize patterns and fenestration in the building facade. Every piece of brickwork in the pattern shapes was prepared and cut on a full scale template on site prepared by the brick layers, their work was excellent and they provided creative input to this project. This project won the MBA Awards Best Building under $5m for it’s outstanding craftsmanship and overall quality of work. This building was designed by Paul Barnett Design Group and the builders were Total Project Constructions, with the bricks supplied by Austral Bricks.
