The Royal National Agricultural and Industry Association of Queensland (RNA) and the Urban Land Development Authority (ULDA) approved a $2.9 billion plan to renovate the Brisbane Showgrounds in an effort to preserve existing historic buildings and transform the grounds into a lifestyle hub for the Brisbane community.

Landscape architects Lat27, Lend Lease and paving contractor Smartstone Group were commissioned by the RNA to undertake the development of the Showgrounds Plaza area; the first stage of the new project to be developed.

Over 5000 m2 of Adbri Masonry's Honed Brickpave 80 in Ivory, Sandstock, Red Ekka Blend and Honed BiPave 80 in Natural were used to transform the site.

The made to order service gave the us the flexibility to create pavers which reflect colours and formats of the adjoining Royal International Convention Centre Heritage facade; while the honed finish was selected to refine the appearance, revealing the stone aggregate colour and to enhance the serviceability of the pavement.
